Day 14 - Costa Rica | Alejo Kahle Castro

Hacienda Colima has been in the Castro-Kahle family since the 1840s and is today managed by Alejo Kahle Castro, a fifth-generation pro- ducer. Alejo is a master of his craft and has placed multiple times in the Costa Rican Cup of Excellence. Hacienda Colima sits high on the slopes of the Barva Volcano in the Central Valley of Costa Rica, an area famous for producing incredible coffee. The Hacienda pri- marily grows sugar cane, but this continues to shift as demand for its coffee grows. Conservation is important to the Castro-Kahle fam- ily, and they have acquired 1500 hectares of rainforest for ecological preservation in the areas where they grow their coffee. This lot was processed using a traditional natural method where whole cherries are sun-dried on patios. This has created a coffee with red berry and tropical fruit notes.

We source coffee direct from origin, and supply coffee around Australia and America. At our retail locations we offer all-day breakfast, delicious lunch, high-end tea, fresh juice, smoothies, cakes and pastries and table-service along our coffee. We love what we do and create a genuine, warm, fun and sometimes a little bit cheeky nature. We can't wait to spoil our customers!
